Rainy days

Emma should be getting kickbacks from the pottery place. We stopped by to pick up something last week, and before I knew it, she had convinced me to let her paint a small plate before we left. We picked it up this week, and she has eaten off of it pretty much every day since. Here she is, proudly displaying her latest work:Along with her artistic talents, she has also brought back her affinity for putting random objects on her head. This weekend, it was her pink bucket/"helmet". She wanted to wear it outside, but we were able to talk her out of it and keep this particular fashion accessory out of public view. It's been raining basically non-stop for the past week, so we haven't been able to do any chalking. Emma's been playing with her toys inside a good bit, but we've managed to make a few excursions out in the soggy weather. On Saturday we drove 45 minutes over to the nearest Trader Joe's to see what kinds of random and interesting food we could find. (And possibly some cheap wine...just because we were there and it was a really good deal...not that we would drive 45 minutes to a store for cheap wine.......really.......) While we were there, Tim happened upon a display he couldn't resist: Simpler Times beer - $3.99 for a 6 pack. He was so excited.

Upon sampling a can, he has decided that he prefers his times a little less simple, as the beer is pretty bad. But, as the slogan says, it's cheap but "it'll get you where you want to go." Lesson learned.

We braved the rains again today for a trip over to Catch Air for some bounce-house bouncing and ballpit-diving. Emma had lots of fun, but we made a quick exit when Daddy called to say that there were lots of roads closing around town and we should probably get home soon. From the weather reports, it sounds like we are going to have to come up with some more indoor activities for rest of the week. It's a good thing this kid loves art projects!
