Co-ed sleepover

Another busy weekend at the Korey house, and -- no surprise -- not many pictures to show for it! The only picture from the entire weekend...blueberry lollipop tongue:
We went over to Jackson & Carley's house on Friday for a playdate with them plus the other kids that will be in Emma's swim class (starting next Monday). She loved playing on their brand new playset, but the moms all decided it was too hot to stay outside for more than a few minutes, so we went inside and fed the kiddies lunch. Emma was a bit torn about whether to play in the playroom with the boys, who are her age but, you know, boys, or play in the baby's room with the girls, who are both less than a year old. She compromised and went back & forth between the two. It was very cute to watch her interact with the little ones!

Friday night, we met Grandpa & Grandma H and Cousin Megan for dinner at Aunt Laura's work (Miller's Ale House). We had some yummy food, and Emma got to spend a little time with her aunt, who she doesn't get to see often.

On Saturday, we attended a cul-de-sac party at the end of our street. Again, we would have had some great pictures if we'd only remembered to bring the camera. Have no fear, we certainly didn't forget to bring the food or the beer! There was a great turnout, and we had a really nice time meeting some new neighbors while the kids all played together. We had walked down to the party with some neighbors from across the street, and Emma & their son Cooper had lots of fun chasing each other with kiddie lawn mowers and learning exactly what happens when you drop a water balloon on hot pavement. The kids finally hit a wall around 9:00 and were ready for bed, but the parents weren't ready to call it a night yet. So Emma got to sleep over at Cooper's house for a bit, while the adults got to continue the neighborly socializing downstairs for a few more hours. Her first co-ed sleepover, and she's not even 3 yet! (Don't worry, grandparents, they were in separate rooms!)

Tomorrow Emma and I are going to visit the zoo for her very first time, along with her buddies Jackson & Cooper and the baby girls again. She is way excited to see the animals. We'll make sure to bring the camera!

Happy Fathers Day, Daddy!

Emma was very excited to help Daddy celebrate Fathers Day this year. She picked a special Little Mermaid card for him that sings "Under The Sea" every time you open it. How did she know it was exactly what he wanted? We decided he needed a new grill, now that he's become an excellent grill chef. So he got a nice new grill for Fathers Day too. On Sunday, we went out for a super-fancy lunch at the Waffle House -- Daddy's choice. Emma ate almost an entire waffle all by herself! She must get her love of Waffle House from Grandma & Grandpa H, who go every weekend.

Recently, Emma decided that her toy cabinet also makes a lovely seating area. Sometimes she even pulls the doors shut to make a self-contained hideout.
When asked to put her toys away ther other night, she shreiked, "We can't put toys there! That's my SEAT!"
There are so many, it's hard to pick just a few, but here are some recent quotes that made us laugh:
  • "I love to toot and make bubbles in the bathtub!"
  • "Mom, be careful drinking your coffee. If you spill in my car, it will be bad."
  • "I need something in my hand to eat that's juicy and sweet." - spoken while eyeing a bunch of grapes on the table
  • "I need something stick-y to eat." - spoken while eyeing a bag of pretzel rods on the kitchen counter...get it? STICK-y?
  • While being fed a PB&J sandwich: "Mom, you're feeding me!" While being given her sippy cup: "Mom, you're watering me!"

Boo boos, birthdays, & bubbles

Lots to catch up on since our last blog. Last weekend started with a visit to Audrey's house while mommy & daddy ran a 5K race over in Vickery. Audrey & Emma had lots of fun playing dress-up together. If you ask Emma, she will happily tell you, "I dressed up as Sweeping Beauty, and Audrey was Snow White!"
On that Saturday evening, we went to the neighborhood pool for a bit. Emma had a blast and wasn't afraid of the water at all. This is a good sign for her upcoming swim lessons that start next month. We will, however, have to work on walking carefully up the sidewalk to the parking lot -- Emma took a spill on the way to the car and got her first skinned knee. (Yes, hard to believe it, but she's gone 2 1/2 years without one!) When we got home, she proudly displayed her "boo boo":Then, last Sunday we went over to Uncle Mike & Aunt Heather's house to celebrate Grandpa K's birthday. Emma & Alex had a ball playing together and helping Grandpa open his presents.
Grandpa & Grandma left today for a 2 week trip overseas. We hope they have a great time, and we'll try to update more often while they are gone, in case they get a chance to check the blog while they are away.

Emma has also been having fun with bubbles while she "helps" Daddy cook dinner on the grill lately. We took some great pics the other night:

Got some cute video too, but we'll save that for another post. This one has been long enough!
