Happy birthday, Grandma

We had Tim's side of the family over for a cookout this weekend to celebrate Grandma K's birthday. Emma had her first taste of Grandma's macaroni salad, and she was a big fan from the first bite. All she kept saying was, "More 'roni...more 'roni!" Even tonight, she had some leftovers, and it was the same thing again. Guess she's a carb fan like her parents!

I made a dark chocolate cake, and Emma was dying for a bite all day: "Emma bite? Emma bite?" I told her she'd have to wait and ask Grandma, since it was her birthday cake. When she finally got to dig in to the cake and ice cream, she was a happy camper. A far cry from her first experience with cake and ice cream at her birthday party last year! Unfortunately, the camera batteries died before the cake came out, so we don't have any photos of Emma with the cake. But here's one of Grandma opening the picture that Emma colored for her:Emma got to hang out and play with Cousin Alex too:Grandma & Grandpa K leave tomorrow for a trip out west. We can't wait to hear about their adventures when they get back. In the meantime, Emma gets to hang out with Grandma & Grandpa H this weekend while Mommy & Daddy go downtown to celebrate a friend's birthday. She's already excited and has been chanting "Gwampa's house! Gwampa's house!" every time we talk about it.
