Meanwhile, Drew decided our blog readers needed an anatomy lesson, since he is learning where his body parts are. Where's your ear?
How about your nose?
Okay, now where's your mouth?

And your tummy?
Friday was "dress as your favorite book character" at school. Emma's class decided to all dress as the kids from The Polar Express, so they all wore their pajamas to school. Here she is in her pj's. As you can see, she is sprouting up like a weed lately, and all of her pants are too short, like these. Good thing girls can pass off short pants as capris!
We didn't dress Drew up as a book character, but apparently he has been reading "Cinderella Man" or some other boxing book, and decided to take matters into his own hands. When I picked him up, I discovered he had a little run-in with the play kitchen at school, and he had a nice little welt next to his eye.
By Saturday it had turned into a full-fledged shiner. It didn't seem to hurt him or anything, but he sure did look rough!
As of this morning, it's still there but starting to fade. It's like a little reminder that even though he's the sweetest boy in the world, he's still one tough little cookie.

So, rewinding back to Friday night...nasty storms and reports of tornadoes in the area kept us in for the night and glued to the tv. Things started to look a little dicey around 9:30, and then we lost our tv signal (got to love satellite tv!), so we decided it was probably a good idea to get the kids out of bed and hang out in the basement, just in case.
From a sound sleep, I carried Drew downstairs and into the playroom (the safest room in the basement). He rested his head on my shoulder for about 30 seconds, then looked around, wiggled out of my lap, and didn't stop playing for the next hour. He was in heaven!
Meanwhile, Tim carried Emma down and into the playroom. She laid her head in my lap and proceeded to sleep for at least 30 minutes, despite her brother squealing and tripping over her legs over and over, before moving to the couch in the other room and getting comfy under the covers.
Much to my surprise, Drew went right back down when we took the kids back upstairs after the storms were over. And not surprising, so did Emma. Thank goodness we avoided any storm damage, and everyone slept through the rest of the night. Could have been alot worse!
We normally bring toys out of the playroom for Drew to play with in another room, instead of letting him run around by himself in there, because it's been sort of a catch-all for Emma's toys in the past, including the ones with little tiny pieces. But after Friday night, it's kind of hard to keep him out. Which I guess is really what the playroom is meant for anyways -- playing. After putting up the choke hazards, we let him have the run of the place this weekend. It's so nice to see both kids playing together and having fun together!
And speaking of playing, Emma learned how to play Cootie yesterday. I know you all remember this one...I think my great grandmother even had it in her toy closet when I was a kid. Emma got it as a gift from someone for either her birthday or Christmas, but I can't remember who gave it to her. So whoever it was, she thanks you!
