No Smiles, Part II

We made another attempt at 6 month portraits yesterday. It was the same photographer that did her 3 month portraits, so we were hoping she would be able to do the trick again. Emma certainly put her to the test. Once again, she had no interest in smiling for the camera. We knew it was a lost cause when we couldn't keep her thumb out of her mouth. But we were bound and determined to take whatever pictures we could get last night. This was one of the biggest smiles of the evening, and actually ended up being a pretty cute picture:

There are more, but it would take forever to upload them all. Most of you will see them in the weeks to come.

In other news, we went for Emma's 6 month check-up today. She tipped the scales at 18 lbs 3 oz (75-90th percentile), and she is 26 1/2 inches long (50-75th percentile). Her doctor was very impressed with her skills, and says she seems to act more like a 9 month old than a 6 month old. She looked Emma straight in the eye and said, "Don't be in such a hurry to grow up!" The doctor also said it looks like her eyes will stay blue. Emma got 3 shots, gave about 30 seconds of ear-piercing screams, and then she was good to go. We get to start self-feeding (teething biscuits, fruit puffs, soft veggies) in another month or so. I'm with the doctor - our little girl is growing up so fast!

She rolled all the way over from back to tummy to back yesterday, so it appears that she will be on the move before too long. Yikes. I don't know if we are ready for that!
