Emma has been rediscovering various new toys she got for Christmas all week. It's so entertaining to watch her spot one and say, "Oooh, look Mommy! It's a puzzle!" or "Oh yeah, I got a princess coloring book!" Some of her absolute favorite gifts are the jigsaw puzzles she got -- one from Grandma K (the expert puzzler) and one from Santa.
As Mommy & Daddy have pretty much hit their lifetime limit of putting the same 2 puzzles together over and over again, we were happy to have Grandma K sit with her to do them this past weekend. After watching Emma's skills in action, Grandma declared that Emma has "the gift" for putting together jigsaw puzzles. It's actually pretty amazing because she really does know how to match up the pieces. But after the 34th time in a row, the amazement fades a bit...
In between puzzles on Saturday, we cheered for the Falcons as they took on Arizona. Unfortunately, our cheering didn't help enough for them to win, but Emma had lots of fun anyways. She would say, "Go Dirty Birds!" and then flap her little birdie wings. We tried to get her to say "Go Falcons!" but she kept saying "Go Balcons!" It was so cute that we had to capture it on video:
She has been cracking us up with her word choices lately. She has really taken a liking to the term "wedgie." I'm not sure that she knows exactly what it means, except that it means you need to fix your pants. So she will walk around saying, "Oh no! I got a wedgie!" and then try and tug on her pants to fix it.
She is also having some long heart-to-hearts with her stuffed animals and dolls. She loves to tell her new My Little Pony doll, "Pony, you so pretty" as she combs its hair. Tim said yesterday she held her Ariel doll in her arms and said, "Ariel, you so pretty. Your hair is so crazy." What a silly girl!
Also, because we are so proud of their handiwork (no pun intended), here is a close-up of the plate that Nathan and Emma made for Great Grandma G for Christmas. Joe & Laura, your days as Grandma's favorites are numbered...I just don't see how you can compete with this!

Joe and Laura are probably planning a secret meeting to put together their comeback plan.
Poor Ariel and her crazy hair!
When you least expect it, we'll be back. We just don't have the luxury of cute kids to win the easy points.
